Where and When
Foreign nationals holding a Visa on Arrival are permitted to extend their stay anywhere. This means that VOA holders can extend their stay at the nearest immigration office. A Visa on Arrival is initially valid for 30 days. This visa can be extended for another 30 days in Indonesia, bringing the total stay to 60 days. Although the earliest time for foreign nationals to begin the Visa on Arrival extension process is 14 days before the current visa expires, the extension should be attempted no later than one day before the expiration date.
Fees and How to Apply
The VOA extension fee is IDR 500,000 and must be submitted at the immigration office where the foreigner resides. Make sure you complete the time-consuming process. Otherwise, problems such as overstaying will arise. Please note that foreigners who overstay in Indonesia will be subject to a fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day. Bring all the required documents to the nearest immigration office and pick them up without waiting in line. Fill out the form provided at the immigration office with a black ink pen, then submit the documents to the officer. Applicants will receive an invoice via email or WhatsApp the following day and must pay at a bank or post office. On the third day, applicants must come to the office to have their photo and fingerprints taken. Passports must be ready by the seventh day.
The sequence:
- Passport and photocopy
- Photocopy of VOA Sticker
- Hotel Receipt/Reservation
- Check-in & Return Ticket Flight
- Bonus: Entrance Ticket
Note
Please respect Indonesian culture by wearing formal attire and shoes and covering your knees, shoulders, and chest. Foreigners wearing flip-flops are prohibited from entering the immigration office.
